Post Medication Sexual Dysfunction

Antidepressants and other medications impacting serotonin pathways in the brain can induce sexual dysfunction even after discontinued use of the medication. Common symptoms include, but are not limited to: genital numbness, a complete loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, vaginal dryness, cognitive dysfunction, anhedonia and emotional blunting. Bupropion, which affects both norepinephrine and dopamine, can sometimes improve sexual response. For some men, taking sildenafil (Viagra) or tadalafil (Cialis) can alleviate SSRI-induced erectile dysfunction.
