Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder
PGAD is characterized by unwanted sensations of arousal, pain, and/or being on the verge of orgasm or having uncontrollable orgasms. These sensations are not associated with sexual thoughts. Those who suffer from PGAD often experience depression, anxiety and/or insomnia. The root causes of this disorder are poorly understood and treatment options vary based on the affected region. Treatments include pelvic floor physical therapy, clitoral nerve blocks, topical creams with hormones, and lumbosacral shock wave therapy.
